A two-vehicle collision in McFarland early Monday morning resulted in the death of one driver, officials confirmed.
The crash happened on March 24 at the intersection of Peterson Road and Stradley Avenue at approximately 7:51 a.m. A 22-year-old female driver, who was not wearing a seat belt, was declared dead at the scene.
The crash in McFarland took place as she was traveling south on Stradley Avenue, failed to come to a complete stop at a stop sign, and collided with a 2018 Volvo dump truck moving east on Peterson Road while preparing to turn north on Stradley Avenue. The 41-year-old dump truck driver was unharmed and cooperated with investigators.
The Kern County Coroner’s Office will release the victim’s name after next-of-kin notification. Preliminary reviews indicate that alcohol or drugs were not contributing factors in the crash.
