A local food vendor at a taco stand in Oxnard has reportedly been injured after debris from a collision between a Metrolink train and a tractor-trailer struck her business Tuesday evening.
The crash happened near Rice Avenue and Fifth Street at approximately 7:15 p.m. A tractor-trailer, traveling south on Rice Avenue, came to a stop on the tracks just as a Metrolink train approached from the west.
The impact dislodged the trailer attached to the truck, sending fragments flying and damaging the taco stand.
Paramedics transported the vendor, who sustained head injuries, to a nearby hospital where she remains in critical but stable condition. The tractor-trailer driver emerged uninjured, while two passengers on the train reported neck pain, with one being taken to the hospital for evaluation. Officials have ruled out alcohol as a factor in the incident. The Oxnard train-truck crash is under investigation by local law enforcement.
