Authorities report that a pedestrian was fatally struck near her home in Oakley Thursday morning. The accident happened at about 9:55 a.m. at the intersection of Main Street and Ramos Ranch Road, just feet from the victim’s residence.
The deceased has been identified as Diane John. Family members, who were at home when the collision occurred, expressed profound grief over the loss.
Officials say a 77-year-old driver, whose vehicle was involved in the crash, initially drove home but later returned to the scene and was subsequently taken to a hospital. Preliminary findings indicate that a medical impairment may have contributed to the collision. The driver has cooperated with investigators.
Oakley Police Chief Paul Beard stated, “We extend our sincerest condolences to the family,” noting that the department is mindful of the sensitivity of this case. The investigation is ongoing.
