
A deadly incident on Monday afternoon halted a Metrolink train bound for Los Angeles after it collided with a vehicle close to Camarillo.
The Ventura County Line 118 train struck the vehicle around 2:15 p.m. at the intersection of Las Posas Road and Fifth Street, according to reports from the Ventura County Fire Department and a social media announcement by the Metrolink Ventura County Line.
While the five passengers and three crew members aboard the train escaped injury, the driver of the car was pronounced dead at the scene. The collision forced the closure of the railway tracks, disrupting service for the southbound VC Line 118.
Metrolink provided alternative transportation options for passengers to reach their final destination in Los Angeles. The cause of the Metrolink train crash near Camarillo remains under investigation.
