A head-on collision on West Commonwealth Avenue late Saturday night resulted in the death of one driver.
Officers responded to a call at 10:50 p.m. on the 600 block of West Commonwealth Avenue after reports of a two-vehicle crash. On scene, authorities found a 2004 Toyota Corolla and a 2009 Lexus RX350, both sustaining significant front-end damage and coming to rest in the center of the roadway.
Paramedics transported both drivers to a local trauma center. The driver of the Corolla was pronounced dead, while the condition of the Lexus driver remains unknown.
Preliminary investigations indicate the Corolla, reportedly gold in color, was traveling west on Commonwealth Avenue while the Lexus was headed east when the Corolla veered into the opposite lane, triggering the fatal impact.
No information has yet been released regarding whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the head-on crash in Fullerton, as the case is still under investigation by local police. The Orange County Coroner’s Office has not released the deceased driver’s identity as of this writing.
