
A crash involving a Tesla, a pickup truck, and an Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA) bus in Fullerton left two people dead and five others injured early Saturday morning.
The Tesla crash happened around 6:45 a.m. at the intersection of Orangethorpe Avenue and State College Boulevard.
According to Fullerton police, the driver of a white 2018 Tesla Model 3 ran a red light while heading eastbound on Orangethorpe and struck a 1991 Toyota pickup before colliding with the side of an OCTA bus.
Responding officers found the Tesla with heavy front-end damage in the intersection. A woman inside the Tesla died at the scene. The male driver was taken to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Five bus passengers sustained minor injuries. The pickup and bus drivers were uninjured and remained on scene to cooperate with investigators. The cause of the collision is unknown as of this writing.
