A 38-year-old man was killed Monday morning after being struck by a car while crossing Highway 70 in Oroville.
California Highway Patrol officials said Dustin Joel Perry was crossing from the west side of the southbound lanes around 8:45 a.m. when he was hit by a vehicle driven by 22-year-old Monique Dellacruz.
Authorities said Dellacruz attempted to brake and swerve but was unable to avoid the collision.
Emergency responders treated Perry at the scene, but he died from his injuries. The Butte County Sheriff’s Office conducted a coroner investigation and confirmed that drugs and alcohol were not contributing factors in the incident.
