
A woman is facing felony charges after allegedly driving under the influence and causing a head-on collision on North Market Street in Redding late Tuesday morning.
Officers with the Redding Police Department responded to the crash just south of Lake Boulevard at around 11:23 a.m. and found a blue 2017 Subaru overturned with significant damage.
The driver, identified as Noreen Filomeo, had to be extricated from the vehicle and was transported to a nearby hospital with moderate injuries.
The other vehicle involved in the crash in Redding, a 2005 Ford Focus, also sustained major damage. Its driver was hospitalized with moderate injuries as well.
Investigators determined that Filomeo had crossed the center median and was traveling south in the northbound lanes before colliding head-on with the Ford. Authorities confirmed that she was under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs at the time of the accident.
Filomeo will be charged with felony DUI causing serious injury.
