SOUTH GATE, CA — Two people were killed early Monday morning in a violent two-car crash at South Gate 7-Eleven parking lot.
The collision occurred around 6 a.m. near the intersection of Imperial Highway and Garfield Avenue. Authorities reported both drivers sustained fatal injuries—one was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other later died at a hospital. No other individuals were involved.
Prior to the parking lot crash, sheriff’s deputies had responded to a domestic disturbance on Exeter Street in Paramount, roughly four miles from the crash site. The suspect involved in the dispute reportedly fled the scene in a vehicle upon deputies’ arrival.
Although deputies followed the suspect for a short distance, officials confirmed there was no pursuit. Moments later, deputies encountered the wreckage in South Gate and stopped to assist.
Details surrounding the cause of the crash remain unclear. Aerial footage captured a white vehicle resting atop another, highlighting the severity of the impact.
The intersection was closed for several hours as investigators worked to determine what led to the deadly collision. The investigation is ongoing.
