Van Nuys Parking Lot Accident Claims Life of Pedestrian
VAN NUYS, CA (April 27, 2024) — A tragic incident in Van Nuys resulted in the death of a pedestrian after being struck by a vehicle in a parking lot.
The Los Angeles Police Department reported that the accident occurred around 2:05 p.m. in the 6900 block of North Sepulveda Boulevard, near an apartment complex.
According to authorities, the female driver was attempting to exit a parking space when an object became lodged between the gas pedal and the floorboard, causing her to unintentionally accelerate.
The vehicle struck two pedestrians who were walking in the lot, dragging one of them onto the street where they later died from their injuries. The second victim was hospitalized with serious injuries but is expected to recover.
Police have stated that neither drugs nor alcohol were involved in the Van Nuys parking lot accident, and no foul play is suspected. The investigation into this fatal accident is ongoing.
