
MARIN COUNTY, CA – A serious car accident in Novato early Wednesday morning left a 14-year-old girl in critical condition and a 15-year-old boy seriously injured.
The crash occurred around 3:00 a.m. on Ignacio Boulevard, when a white Ford Edge lost control and crashed into a tree in the center median. According to Novato Police, the driver, identified as 18-year-old Cristofer Larreinaga Corea of San Rafael, fled the scene after the impact.
He was located shortly after near Nave Drive and Bolling Drive, suffering from injuries, and was taken to the hospital. After being released, he will be booked into Marin County Jail with bail set at $100,000.
Authorities have charged him with child endangerment and hit-and-run causing injury. The 14-year-old girl was transported to a regional trauma center, while the 15-year-old boy remains stable at a local hospital.
Police are investigating whether alcohol or drugs were factors in the crash and urge any witnesses to call 415-897-4361.
