FRESNO, CA – A police operation ended when a Fresno officer hit an armed teen with his patrol car as he tried to flee following a River Park shooting.
The suspect was identified as 18-year-old George Ruiz, who reportedly fired at another vehicle after an argument near Blackstone and Nees Avenue. Although the car was struck by bullets, no one inside was injured.
According to Police Chief Mindy Casto, Ruiz ran into traffic on Blackstone Avenue, and during the pursuit, an officer struck him with his patrol car at less than 20 mph to prevent his escape.
Ruiz was taken to the hospital and later arrested. He now faces charges of assault with a deadly weapon and other serious offenses and will be booked into the Fresno County Jail.
