BAKERSFIELD, CA — A truck accident in Bakersfield claimed the life of a man Sunday afternoon when he crashed into a semi-truck at a busy intersection in the southern part of the city.
According to the Bakersfield Police Department, the collision occurred around 6:07 p.m. at South Union Avenue and Welch Avenue. Preliminary reports indicate the motorcyclist was traveling westbound on Welch Avenue when he collided with a semi-truck heading north on South Union Avenue.
The motorcyclist was rushed to a nearby hospital with critical injuries and was pronounced dead shortly after. The Kern County Coroner’s Office will release the victim’s identity at a later time.
The truck driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with authorities. Police continue to investigate the incident and are asking anyone with information to call 661-327-7111.
