OAKLAND, CA – A multi-vehicle crash in Oakland left a motorcyclist dead Sunday afternoon, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).
The crash occurred around 2:30 p.m. on eastbound Interstate 80, near Powell Street. Authorities reported that four vehicles were involved: a Honda motorcycle, a Toyota Prius, a Tesla Model S, and a Subaru Crosstrek.
The motorcyclist died at the scene, while the other drivers remained and cooperated with the investigation. The CHP noted that alcohol or drugs were not suspected as factors in the crash.
The incident caused the closure of three highway lanes for over an hour, leading to significant traffic delays in the area.
The cause of the fatal accident remains under investigation by the Oakland division of the California Highway Patrol.
