FRESNO COUNTY, CA – A man lost his life Wednesday morning following a high-speed crash in Fresno, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).
The accident happened around 6:00 a.m. at the intersection of American Avenue and Del Rey Avenue. Authorities report that the driver of a black Dodge Challenger was speeding behind a semi-truck without a trailer when the truck began turning into the POM Wonderful plant.
The Challenger’s driver failed to stop in time and crashed into the rear of the semi’s cab. The man was not wearing a seatbelt and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The semi-truck driver was transported to a nearby hospital with minor to moderate injuries.
The CHP closed the roadway for several hours while officers investigated the exact cause of the fatal crash.
