Authorities are investigating a fatal hit-and-run that left a pedestrian dead Saturday evening in Torrance.
The incident happened near Pacific Coast Highway and Ocean Avenue. According to police, the pedestrian fell off the curb and into traffic on the PCH and was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities speculate that up to four vehicles may have been involved.
An individual was soon taken into custody and arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.
“This arrest underscores the ongoing issues surrounding impaired driving and the dangers it poses to all road users,” the Torrance Police Department was quoted by local news as saying. “Our thoughts are with the victim’s family and friends during this incredibly difficult time.”
The incident is currently being investigated.
