A man driving a Toyota Camry was killed in a crash following a high-speed police chase near Ashiya Park in Montebello Tuesday night.
Police state that the driver was pulled over by an officer for a traffic violation when he suddenly drove away and fled from police, initiating a pursuit.
The chase began around 10:17 p.m. lasting for less than 20 seconds when the officer lost track of the Toyota Camry and later discovered that the driver had crashed near a tree at Ashiya Park.
The unnamed driver was pronounced dead at the scene after attempts on aid by the Fire Department. The Toyota Camry sustained major damages and was later removed from the scene.
