A bookstore in Westchester was left in shambles after a car crashed through its front entrances at 1:09 a.m.
Officers received calls of a vehicle that had barreled into a building near Westchester Triangle at the corner of West 87th Street and Sepulveda Eastway by La Tijera Boulevard. It is believed by authorities that the driver was speeding before the collision.
Video evidence depicts the severe damage on The Book Jewel, the establishment, where books and other items had flown and were scattered across the floor. It is reported that the car drove all the way inside to the back of the building. The vehicle then backed out of the store and into the parking lot.
The driver successfully exited the car with no injuries as the vehicle caught fire. He was later arrested by LAPD and taken into custody under the suspicion of DUI. The vehicle was then towed away from the scene.
