A 12-year-old pedestrian was killed while crossing the street at Encinitas Boulevard and Village Square Drive in San Diego Friday night.
Authorities report that a Nissan X-Terra going west and a Ford Fusion going south crashed into each other. The SUV hit the girl, and she was pronounced dead at the scene.
The drivers of both vehicles were reported to be 44-year old men, and remained on the scene following the collision. Neither drugs nor alcohol appear to be a factor in this tragedy.
The community set up a memorial of photos, flowers, and messages in front of Park Dale Lane Elementary, which the girl attended.
