A driver has been killed following a car crash involving four vehicles on the westbound lanes of Interstate 80 Bay Bridge late Friday night.
Local officers received reports of a crash and responded to the scene at around 11:15 p.m. where they discovered four cars blocking Lanes 1 to 4. The vehicles consisted of a white Genesis sedan, two silver Toyota cars, and a gray Toyota.
The driver behind the white sedan was reported to have been speeding, later colliding into the slower traffic ahead of it. The sedan crashed into the silver Toyota from behind, which caused a domino effect as the silver Toyota crashed into the second Toyota, which then plowed onto the fourth car.
The driver of the silver Toyota reportedly sustained severe injuries and later died in the hospital. Another person was also hospitalized, the identity and degree of injury unknown.
The driver of the white Genesis remained at the scene. Local police speculate that DUI may be involved.
