One pedestrian was left dead while another was rushed to the hospital after multiple crashes that took place at the intersection of Baker St. and Sumner St. east of Bakersfield Saturday evening.
While officers were responding to the scene of the crash at about 6:02 p.m., another crash was reported to them at Niles St.
Upon arrival at Sumner St., first responders found the first victim, a pedestrian, who was later hospitalized under critical condition. The driver in the Sumner St. crash had reportedly been driving north on Baker when he struck the pedestrian and then crashed into another vehicle after running a red light and for speeding.
Meanwhile the officers at Niles St. found two vehicles that were completely on fire. One of the male drivers sustained major injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The other male driver had minor injuries and was also brought to the emergency room.
