A male driver died after his vehicle crashed into a tree and burst into flames in the 17600 block of Victory Boulevard in the Lake Balboa neighborhood early Friday morning.
Officers said the incident happened at about 2 a.m. Preliminary investigations suggest that the man was driving at high speeds when he slammed his vehicle into a tree outside a residential area, splitting the vehicle and making it catch fire.
Neighbors rushed to help the man, including an individual who gathered people door-by-door to calm the flames as well as made the call for first responders. Despite the efforts, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Locals allegedly said that this wasn’t the first time a crash like this happened in their neighborhood. The investigation is ongoing.
