Two people were injured Thursday evening in a solo vehicle crash that disrupted trolley service in San Diego’s Encanto neighborhood.
San Diego police officers responded just before 5 p.m. to a collision involving a black Kia Soul at the intersection of 60th Street and Imperial Avenue, adjacent to the trolley tracks. The vehicle held two occupants at the time of the crash.
San Diego Fire-Rescue crews extricated one of the passengers from the vehicle, while the other reportedly exited on their own. Witnesses who called 911 were seen attempting to kick the vehicle’s windows in an apparent effort to help, although it remains unclear if their actions contributed to the self-extrication.
As a result of the crash, Metropolitan Transit System (MTS) announced limited trolley service between Massachusetts Avenue and Euclid Avenue stations. “Service is slow moving. Riders should expect delays for the next few hours,” MTS posted on X at around 6:40 p.m.
Police confirmed the injuries were minor and said the incident remains under investigation.
