A 15-year-old student from Campbell Hall High School died Wednesday afternoon after being pinned between two vehicles in a campus parking lot.
The incident reportedly happened around 3:10 p.m. as the teen was approaching his father’s car, which was parked between two other vehicles. A Rivian SUV suddenly lurched forward and pinned the student between its front end and the rear of his father’s vehicle, according to police.
The teen was transported to a local trauma center, where he was later pronounced dead. His identity has not been released.
Officials confirmed that the driver of the SUV was not affiliated with the school. Five other individuals—two students and three adults—sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were treated and released from the hospital.
Police have ruled the incident an accident. No charges or citations have been issued.
