A 24-year-old man was killed early Wednesday morning after the pickup truck he was driving crashed into a parked forklift on Harbor Drive in San Diego’s Barrio Logan neighborhood.
The incident occurred around 2:05 a.m. near the intersection of Harbor Drive and Park Boulevard. According to the San Diego Police Department, the 2023 Ford F-150 was traveling southbound when it passed through road closure barriers and struck the rear of an unoccupied forklift positioned in the No. 1 lane of Harbor Drive.
The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Two passengers in the truck sustained minor injuries and were transported to UC San Diego Medical Center for treatment. Their identities have not been released.
The crash occurred in an area undergoing significant construction as part of the Harbor Drive Trunk Sewer Replacement Project, which has reduced traffic flow and closed lanes along portions of Harbor Drive. Authorities have not confirmed whether the construction zone or related signage played a role in the collision.
The San Diego police is investigating the incident.
