Two people were killed and four others, including two children, seriously injured Friday following a head-on collision on Highway 70 north of Marysville, California.
The crash occurred at approximately 3:15 p.m. near Boyer Road when a southbound Toyota Camry crossed the center line and collided head-on with a northbound Honda CR-V, CHP said.
The driver of the Honda, a 41-year-old man from Roseville, died at the scene. A 34-year-old female passenger in the Honda was transported to a hospital and later pronounced dead.
A 4-year-old boy and an 8-year-old girl riding in the Honda sustained serious injuries and were taken to UC Davis Medical Center via airlift.
The occupants of the Camry — an 18-year-old man and an 18-year-old woman from Brentwood — also suffered major injuries.
Highway 70 was closed for roughly two and a half hours while CHP conducted crash scene investigations. Officials have not yet determined whether impairment or other factors contributed to the Camry’s departure from its lane.
