A man was killed Saturday night following a vicious attack by two pit bulls in a Lancaster backyard.
Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies responded to reports of a “vicious animal” attack at approximately 10:30 p.m. on 22nd Street East. Upon arrival, they found the man lying bloodied behind the home, with the dogs blocking access.
One deputy shot a pit bull in the leg, allowing paramedics to reach and transport the victim to a hospital, where he later died.
Animal Control seized four dogs from the property, including the two pit bulls involved, though the fate of the animals remains unclear. A woman at the home was taken into custody, and a deputy was seen carrying a small child away from the scene.
The identity of the victim and whether he lived at the residence have not been released. Deputies have not made any arrests related to the attack.
