An 83-year-old man was injured Wednesday afternoon after being run over by a robbery suspect in the 2100 block of South Bristol Street in Santa Ana.
The incident began around 12:20 p.m. when the elderly victim was approached by a woman who offered to help him load groceries into his vehicle.
Instead, she ripped two gold chains worth more than $4,500 from his neck and fled to a nearby white Mercedes GLS 450 SUV, driven by a male accomplice.
Surveillance footage released by authorities shows the man attempting to stop the robbers when the vehicle accelerated, knocking him down and running over his leg and lower body. A nearby security guard quickly rushed to assist him.
The female suspect remains at large and is described as 20–25 years old, approximately 5 feet 5 inches tall, 140 pounds, and was last seen wearing a gray shirt and blue jeans. The investigation is ongoing.
