Five people were killed Friday afternoon in a multi-vehicle crash that sparked a brush fire along State Route 67 near Iron Mountain Road.
The incident was reported around 12:40 p.m., when emergency crews responded to the scene and found three heavily damaged vehicles — one of which had fallen into a ravine, igniting a fire that spread across a half-acre of brush before firefighters contained it.
Among the victims were 32-year-old Rivera Aberca and his father, 59-year-old Marcial Rivera Solorio, who were reportedly on their way to work at the time of the collision.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
