RED BLUFF, CA (November 7, 2024) – Emergency crews responded to a five-car crash that blocked Bowman Road in Red Bluff, California for over an hour on Wednesday afternoon.
According to the Red Bluff Office of the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the crash on Bowman Road happened around 2:38 p.m. near the intersection of Bowman Road and Adams Road. Upon arrival, responders found a pileup involving a Dodge Ram 3500, Ford Escape, Kia Soul, Lincoln MKZ, and Chevrolet Impala.
The CHP investigation revealed that the driver of the Dodge Ram was traveling eastbound on Bowman Road, which was partially closed due to utility work. Authorities say the Ram driver, who was estimated to be traveling at 40 miles per hour, diverted their attention away from the road and was unable to avoid the stopped vehicles in front of them, crashing into the line of cars.
The impact from the Ram shoved the other vehicles forward, causing significant damage. Six people sustained minor injuries, and two occupants of the Lincoln MKZ were transported to a local hospital.
Bowman Road remained blocked for just over an hour as emergency crews worked the scene. The crash is a somber reminder of the dangerous consequences that can result from distracted driving.
