LAKE ELSINORE, CA (November 5, 2024) – A 33-year-old Wildomar man sustained significant injuries in a two-car crash early Monday morning on southbound I-15, just south of Main Street, the California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported. The crash near Lake Elsinore happened shortly before 6 a.m., involving a black Infiniti Q60 and a white Toyota Camry.
CHP Officer Mike Lassig stated that speed was a factor in the crash, though alcohol was not involved. Investigators are examining whether the Infiniti, traveling from the #1 to the #3 lane, made an unsafe lane change, causing the car’s right front to hit the rear of the Camry. The impact spun the Camry into the center divider, where it struck a wall before coming to a stop on its wheels.
The Infiniti veered off the roadway, went down an embankment, and collided with a eucalyptus tree and a fence before skidding on its roof into two parked cars on private property. The driver, who was not wearing a seatbelt, became trapped and was extricated by Cal Fire firefighters before being transported to Inland Valley Hospital with serious injuries.
The CHP urges motorists to always wear seatbelts to reduce the risk of severe injury in collisions.
