LOS ANGELES, CA (November 12, 2024) – A fatal crash early Tuesday morning halted all northbound lanes of the 110 Freeway in downtown Los Angeles, leading to heavy delays during rush hour. California Highway Patrol reported the collision shortly after 5 a.m. near the 3rd Street exit.
By 5:15 a.m., local news footage showed first responders covering a body in the far-right lane near a severely damaged vehicle. Authorities are investigating whether the victim was a pedestrian or inside the vehicle at the time of the fatal crash in Los Angeles.
The closure caused a significant backup, stretching from the 10 Freeway to the 105, spanning nearly 11 miles. By 6:15 a.m., one northbound lane had reopened, though traffic remained heavily congested. Drivers were also slowing down on the southbound lanes to view the scene, adding to delays in the area.
