SAN BERNARDINO, CA – A 46-year-old Barstow man was arrested Thursday morning for driving under the influence following a crash that damaged two businesses.
At approximately 10:42 a.m. on January 9, 2025, Barstow Police responded to a report of a single-vehicle collision on the 300 block of East Main Street.
When officers arrived, they found the vehicle on the sidewalk, having swerved off the road after the driver, Norris Wright, failed to stop for pedestrians. Wright was driving at a high speed and collided with a building, damaging two businesses and a streetlamp. Neither Wright nor his passenger was injured.
Officers suspected Wright was intoxicated and administered Standard Field Sobriety Tests, which he failed. He was arrested and booked for driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol and driving on a suspended license. Wright was later released after being cite-released.
The City of Barstow’s Building and Maintenance Department deemed the businesses safe to remain open.
