SHERMAN OAKS, CA (November 7, 2024) – A 78-year-old man was hospitalized on Tuesday after a car crash in Sherman Oaks caused extensive damage to nearby property, including a Guitar Center store. The crash, involving two vehicles, led to a broken fire hydrant that sent water surging onto the roof of the store on Ventura Boulevard, according to fire officials.
The strong water pressure from the hydrant reportedly damaged the building’s structure, resulting in a partial roof collapse. The Los Angeles Department of Building and Safety was called in to evaluate the damage and assess further risks. Authorities have not yet disclosed details about what caused the Sherman Oaks crash. No other injuries were reported.
