SACRAMENTO, CA – A pedestrian was struck and killed by a big rig on northbound Interstate 5 in Sacramento early Thursday morning, authorities said.
The incident occurred just after 5 a.m. near the Sutterville Road offramp. The California Highway Patrol confirmed that the crash involved both a big rig and a pedestrian, but the cause of the collision remains unclear.
No details about the identity of the victim in the big rig crash in Sacramento have been released. A SigAlert was issued as lanes were blocked, causing significant delays. Drivers were advised to take Highway 99 as an alternative route, particularly those coming from south Sacramento County.
