
SAN FRANCISCO, CA – A 66-year-old man was arrested on Sunday evening after allegedly causing a multi-vehicle crash in San Francisco’s South of Market neighborhood that killed one person and a dog.
The crash, which took place around 6:10 p.m. at Sixth and Harrison streets, involved seven vehicles, including a self-driving Waymo, and left several people injured.
Jia Lin Zheng was arrested on charges including vehicular manslaughter, reckless driving, speeding, and felony vandalism. Zheng, who was detained at the scene, was later booked into jail without bond. Investigators are also looking into whether his black Tesla was involved in a hit-and-run on northbound Interstate 280 moments before the crash.
The police are still investigating whether alcohol or drugs played a role in the South of Market crash.
