FAMOSO, CA – A motorcycle rider was seriously hurt Sunday afternoon in a collision with a semi-truck on northbound State Route 99 near the junction with State Route 46, the California Highway Patrol said.
The crash happened around 3:38 p.m. and pushed the motorcycle roughly 50 feet down an embankment. At 6:33 p.m., CHP upgraded the case to a major injury crash.
Emergency crews treated the rider and cleared debris from the road. Authorities are determining whether the semi-truck was directly involved or served as an indirect factor in the collision. The truck driver pulled over near SR99 and SR46. At least one highway lane was closed for a brief period while responders removed the wreckage from the State Route 99 motorcycle crash.
