
SAN BENITO COUNTY, CA – Three high school students were killed Tuesday night in a crash in San Benito County, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The incident happened around 6:55 p.m. on Shore Road, west of Lake Road, when a vehicle traveling west lost control and crossed into oncoming traffic, colliding with an eastbound car.
The driver and two rear passengers in the errant vehicle, all students from Hollister High School, were killed. The victims were identified as Brandon Alarcon, 18, and Victor Lujan and Anzhel Villegas-Lemus, both 17. A former student was also involved and remains in critical condition.
The driver and front passenger of the eastbound vehicle sustained serious injuries and were flown to a nearby hospital.
San Benito County Sheriff Eric Taylor expressed his condolences, saying, “My heart breaks for these families. May these boys rest in peace.”
The cause of the crash remains under investigation by CHP. The Hollister High School District has offered counseling services to students and staff affected by the San Benito County crash.
