Pasadena Police Face Lawsuit Over Alleged Discrimination

PASADENA, CA (June 7, 2024) — Several current and former Pasadena Police Department members have initiated a lawsuit alleging discrimination and retaliation within the force.
Former lieutenant Carolyn Gordon detailed her experiences at a press conference outside the police station, claiming she faced assault and removal from special assignments.
Omar Elhosseiny, another former officer, supported Gordon’s claims, citing retaliation after he reported misconduct involving an officer drinking while on duty. The Pasadena police discrimination lawsuit includes accusations of assault, racial slurs, and discrimination by fellow officers.
In defense, the Pasadena Police Officers Association dismissed the claims as “patently false,” attributing one allegation to an incident that purportedly occurred two decades ago. They emphasized their commitment to due process and fair treatment.
The city’s spokesperson, Lisa Derderian, assured that all complaints are thoroughly investigated and appropriate actions are taken. This legal battle echoes a previous case in November 2023, where Officer Taisyn Crutchfield made similar allegations.
Nobody deserves to be mistreated, especially by those who are supposed to protect and serve the community, but unfortunately it happens far too often.
