Pedestrian Fatally Struck by 3 Vehicles on Highway 99
BAKERSFIELD, CA (February 28, 2024) — The pedestrian who lost his life after being struck by three vehicles on Highway 99 early this year, has finally been identified as 66-year-old Jackie Ruffin of Bakersfield, as confirmed by the Kern Coroner’s office.
The incident took place on the northbound lanes of Highway 99, north of Olive Drive. Ruffin was in the second traffic lane for reasons that remain unclear when he was hit by a car, leading to fatal injuries that resulted in his death at the scene.
Authorities reported that the first vehicle involved in the collision left the scene heading northbound on Highway 99, and as of now, no description of this vehicle has been provided.
