Pedestrian Killed in Hit-and-Run at Escondido Intersection
ESCONDIDO, CA (September 17, 2024) — A hit-and-run incident in Escondido early Tuesday morning resulted in the death of a pedestrian, authorities reported. Miguel Leonides Garcia, 58, was fatally struck by a white “off-road style” SUV while crossing Broadway at Mission Avenue just after 6 a.m.
According to the Escondido Police Department, the SUV, notable for a large spare tire and a red jack attached to its back end, did not stop after the collision. Instead, it continued north on Broadway before turning east on Lincoln Avenue. Garcia, an Escondido resident, was transported to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.
