Residents Claim Local Herbicide Cheetah Pro Causes Illness [Aliso Viejo, CA]

SANTA ANA, CA (April 24, 2024) — In Aliso Viejo, a group of residents claims that a herbicide, Cheetah Pro, sprayed near their homes is making them sick. 

 

The chemical, which contains the active ingredient glufosinate, is used by the Aliso Viejo Community Association in public parks and spaces, including areas close to homes. 

 

Local resident Carolyn McCuan reported to local news services symptoms such as headaches, rashes, and fatigue. She attributed these to the herbicides after tests showed high levels of glyphosate in her system.

 

Another resident, Melissa Christian, reportedly noted that exposure to the herbicide, sprayed right up to her property, has affected her and her dog’s health. 

 

Despite Cheetah Pro poisoning concerns, the community association asserts that their pesticide use complies with state and federal regulations and that they have explored non-toxic alternatives.

 

Residents continue to press for safer weed control methods, voicing concerns over the potential long-term health impacts.
