Residents Displaced in Mountain View Apartment Fire, Damages Estimated at $1 Million

SANTA CLARA, CA (May 7, 2024) — A massive fire on Sunday morning has resulted in the displacement of nine residents and caused an estimated $1 million in damages at a Mountain View apartment complex.
The blaze, which reportedly originated on the third floor of the multi-unit building on Fayette Drive, prompted a multi-department response, including teams from the Palo Alto and Santa Clara County Fire Departments.
The Mountain View apartment fire, reported at approximately 11:33 a.m., led to a swift evacuation of the building occupants before the arrival of the firefighters. Although the fire was successfully contained without any injuries, the damage has affected seven apartments within the complex.
Authorities closed Fayette Drive for over three hours as efforts were made to fully extinguish the flames. The American Red Cross is currently providing temporary housing assistance to the affected residents.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
