Santa Ana Head-On Collision Claims One Life
SANTA ANA, CA (April 1, 2024) — A head-on collision on Saturday night resulted in the death of a female driver.
According to the Santa Ana Police Department, the crash involved a Chevrolet Tahoe and a Nissan Versa and was reported around 9:53 p.m., near the intersection of Fairview Street and 5th Street.
The preliminary investigation in the Santa Ana collision suggests that the Nissan Versa, while traveling westbound on 5th Street, crossed into the oncoming lane over the riverbed, colliding head-on with the Chevrolet Tahoe. Emergency response teams, including Santa Ana Police and the Orange County Fire Authority, were quickly on the scene.
The adult female driver of the Nissan was transported to UCI Medical Center, where she later died from her injuries. The Chevrolet was driven by another adult female with her toddler, both of whom did not sustain injuries. They cooperated with the investigation at the scene.
The ongoing investigation aims to determine if alcohol or drugs were contributing factors. The Collision Investigations Unit (CIU) of the Santa Ana Police Department is handling the case.
