SISKIYOU, CA (August 25, 2024) — A 32-year-old Rancho Cordova man was killed early Wednesday when the semi-truck he was sleeping in veered off an embankment on Highway 89 near the Shasta County border. The vehicle’s driver, a 72-year-old man, reportedly fell asleep at the wheel, leading to the deadly crash, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).
The truck crash in Siskiyou happened around 12:30 a.m. when the northbound truck drifted off the road and sideswiped a tree. The driver awoke and attempted to regain control but overcorrected, sending the truck’s cab crashing into multiple trees before coming to a halt.
