Senior Missionary Killed in Fresno Car Accident
FRESNO, CA (May 20, 2024) — Sister Mary Hardin, a 65-year-old senior missionary from San Antonio, Texas, serving in the California Fresno Mission of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, died in a car accident on Saturday evening, May 18, in Fresno County.
According to a statement from church spokesman Sam Penrod, Sister Hardin and her husband, Elder Paul Hardin, were stopped at a red light when a pickup truck struck their vehicle at high speed.
Sister Hardin died at the scene, while Elder Hardin was hospitalized with critical injuries. The Hardins had been serving as missionaries since January, according to the church’s statement. The Sister Mary Hardin accident case is a developing story.
