Sherman Oaks Hit-and-Run Driver Still at Large; Police Seek Public’s Help
LOS ANGELES, CA (September 19, 2024) — The Los Angeles Police Department is asking for the public’s help to identify and locate a driver who struck a 63-year-old woman in Sherman Oaks and fled the scene on September 6.
The incident occurred shortly before 6 p.m. as the woman was crossing Costello Avenue in a marked crosswalk when she was hit by a black Hyundai sedan making a left turn from Ventura Boulevard. The impact sent the woman flying, and the driver momentarily stopped but then fled southbound on Costello Avenue before turning westbound on Davana Terrace.
The woman, whose identity has not been released, was rushed to the hospital with severe injuries. Her current condition is unknown.
Police released a video of the Sherman Oaks hit-and-run incident on Wednesday, hoping someone may recognize the driver or vehicle. Anyone with information is urged to contact the LAPD’s Valley Traffic Division.
