Six-Vehicle Crash on Highway 101 San Luis Obispo
SAN LUIS OBISPO, CA (July 21, 2024) — Cal Fire and the California Highway Patrol responded to a crash involving six vehicles on Highway 101 in northern San Luis Obispo County on Friday evening.
According to the CHP’s Traffic Incident Information page, the crash occurred around 5:20 p.m. just south of Highway 46 West in Paso Robles, near the Target shopping center. The collision caused significant traffic delays in both directions, with backups extending to Atascadero in the northbound lanes and downtown Paso Robles in the southbound lanes.
Ambulances were dispatched as a precaution, and at least two vehicles required towing. By 5:33 p.m., one vehicle was fully engulfed in flames, and another was on fire, according to the emergency services app PulsePoint. The fire was largely contained by around 5:45 p.m. Despite the severity of the San Luis Obispo crash and the ensuing fires, no major injuries were reported.
