Teen Killed in ATV Rollover Crash in Nevada County
NEVADA COUNTY (May 17, 2024) — A 15-year-old boy, Nathan Cavolt of Grass Valley, died on Saturday after an ATV rollover crash on private property in Nevada County. The incident occurred east of Dog Bar Road, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).
CHP officers were called to Hillside Terrace around 7:30 p.m. Preliminary investigations indicate that a 14-year-old boy was steering the ATV uphill when it overturned, ejecting both occupants.
The ATV struck Nathan, causing severe head trauma. He was airlifted to Sutter Roseville Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
The 14-year-old driver sustained non-life-threatening injuries. CHP confirmed that drugs and alcohol were not involved. The investigation into the Nevada ATV rollover crash is ongoing.
A GoFundMe page established by Nathan’s family to assist with medical and funeral expenses has raised over $70,000.
