Teen Killed, Sister Critically Injured in Richmond Car Crash

RICHMOND, CA (October 16, 2024) — Early Monday morning, a tragic car crash in Richmond claimed the life of a teenage girl and left her younger sister critically injured. Richmond Police responded to the incident around 5:15 a.m. on Canal Boulevard after receiving automatic iPhone collision alerts from two phones.
Upon arrival, officers found an Infinity G35 that had crashed at high speed into two trees and a power pole, causing significant damage to the vehicle. A 14-year-old girl was ejected from the car and pronounced dead at the scene, while her 11-year-old sister sustained critical injuries.
Two 15-year-old boys believed to be in the car fled the scene. One was later found at a hospital receiving treatment, and the other was located at a residence in Richmond. “We don’t know who was driving. All of the occupants are pointing fingers at each other,” said Lt. Donald Patchin of the Richmond Police Department to local news agencies.
The vehicle, reported stolen from San Pablo two days prior, is suspected to have been involved in a sideshow activity shortly before the Richmond car crash.
Richmond Police are continuing the investigation and stated that once the driver is identified, charges of manslaughter and possession of a stolen vehicle may be filed.
